No. 18 gamescom festival 2010: Diverse entertainment with games, music and comedy
From 18 - 22 August 2010 the motto "Celebrate the games" will once again hold true for gamescom - Europe's leading trade fair for interactive games and entertainment. All of Cologne - from the trade fair grounds to the Tanzbrunnen all the way to downtown - will be celebrating the world of games. The gamescom festival will thus be bringing the games into the city. From 20 - 22 August - Friday through Sunday - a free music and entertainment programme in the heart of Cologne will complete the overall experience of gamescom 2010, above all attracting new fans of interactive games and entertainment.
Opening concert and comedy at the Tanzbrunnen
The kick-off will take place on Wednesday, 18 August, starting at 7:00 p.m., with an open-air opening concert at the Tanzbrunnen, during which two of the best live acts on the German music scene - Stanfour and Revolverheld - will get the gamescom days in Cologne underway. In recent years both bands have stormed the charts with their albums and will be rocking the cathedral and trade fair city with their latest tour line-up. Tickets are immediately available from www.Koelnticket.de for a price of 23 euros plus advance sale fees.
NightWash, the cult comedy show from the "Kölner Waschsalon" will be celebrating its ten-year anniversary - an event also taking place at the Tanzbrunnen. On Friday night, 20 August 2010, Klaus-Jürgen "Knacki" Deuser, founder and moderator of the show currently broadcast in "Einsfestival" will be presenting the open-air anniversary event with his "band" Alex Flucht. 24 comedians await visitors in a special kind of get together. The "best of" the last 10 years will all be on one stage! Tickets (advance sale fee 24.60 euros) are also immediately available from Koelnticket. Further information available at www.nightwash.de.
Three-day gamescom city festival in downtown Cologne
On Friday the three-day gamescom city festival will begin in downtown Cologne. For three days - until Sunday night - international music acts such as Shout Out Louds, Dúné and Aura Dione as well as German bands such as 2raumwohnung and Klee will turn the Cologne Ring between Rudolfplatz and Friesenplatz into an entertainment hot spot after the trade fair closes from 6:00 p.m. (Sunday from 4:00 p.m.) until 10:00 p.m on each day of gamescom. But that's not all: additional game stations, presentations and show trucks to get newcomers and beginners excited about the fascinating world of interactive games will also be available on location for festival visitors. The motto thus also applies here: Let's celebrate. And it's all free.
